Texas Department of Health services
The Texas Department of Health is in Hamilton at 200 E. Gentry the first Thursday of each month, 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. and 1-3 p.m. They provide vaccines for children, adult immunizations, STD screening, tuberculosis treatment and pregnancy testing. Families in Crisis
Families in Crisis, Inc. is a non-profit agency that provides services to individuals affected by family violence and sexual assault. Services include crisis intervention counseling, referral services and community education. Services are free and confidential. Office hours are 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Rainbow Room donations
The Rainbow Room is in need of new shoes and clothes of all sizes for all ages of children. Donations can be dropped off at 113 Park Hill Drive across from Cefco.

Salvation Army donations
Hamilton County Unit of the Salvation Army has recently been asked to assist with several unexpected requests as well as the usual utility co-pay, food, clothing and transportation needs. Funding depends on Hamilton County residents as there is no other source of contributions or donations. Donations may be mailed to P.O. Box 611, Hamilton, TX 76531.

TOPS meeting
TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) meet each Thursday from 5:15-5:45 at St. John Lutheran Church Century Room. For more information, call 386-5309 or go to http://www.tops.org.

GED preparatory classes
GED preparatory classes are held each Tuesday and Thursday, 5-7:30 p.m. in the white CTC building on the corner of Standifer and Taylor streets. The classes are free. For more information, call Linda Gill in Evant at 254-471-5995.

Each Saturday morning beginning April 2, Colin Melton of Dig This! will share landscape ideas, gardening recommendations and take call in questions on KCLW 900 AM radio.

City Wide Garage Sale
Leadership '05 will hold a City Wide Garage Sale on May 14 on the square to benefit the Pecan Creek Park. The sale will be from 8 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. and booth spaces are available for $20 for a 10X10 space and $25 for a 10 X 20 space. Spaces are limited. HCYAA registration

Jonesboro Arrowhead Show
The 10th annual Jonesboro Arrowhead Show will be held Saturday, April 9 at the Jonesboro Community Center. The show is sponsored by the Jonesboro Athletic Booster Club and is open to the public from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Dealer set-up will begin at 6:30 a.m. Dealer tables are $35 and display tables are $10. All proceeds will benefit the Jonesboro Athletic Booster Club and Jonesboro Community Center. Breakfast and lunch will be catered by End of the Trail Catering. Diabetes class
Hamilton General Hospital and the Texas Cooperative Extension office will co-sponsor a 12-week diabetes course titled, “Do Well, Be Well with Diabetes” beginning April 14. Elementary site base meeting
The next elementary site base meeting will be held on April 4 at 3:30 p.m. in the conference room across from the Elementary office.

Bluff Dale Fun Run
The Bluff Dale Independent School District will sponsor their fifth annual Fun Run on Saturday, May 7 at the Bluff Dale School. There will also be a 1K kiddie run (for ages 7 and under) and a 1 mile run as well as a 5K run. The event will begin at 8 a.m. All paid entries will receive a t-shirt. Trophies will be awarded to the top finishers in each division. Proceeds will benefit various student projects, teacher incentives and student activities. For more information call 254-728-3277.

PCC membership drive
The Perry Country Club is having a membership drive during the months of April and May. Persons who join during either month will pay half the regular membership fee of $200. The month they join will also be free. For more information, contact the club at 386-3383.

H-Bat registration
Registration forms for 13-15 year old boys summer league baseball are now available at the high school and junior high offices. Forms must be turned back in no later than April 1.

High Tea fundraiser for Leukemia & Lymphoma
There will be a high tea Saturday, April 2 from 2:30-4 p.m. at Park Heights Church of Christ, 1300 E. Boynton in Hamilton. The cost is $10 and proceeds will benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, North Texas Chapter, Dallas. Proceeds will be used for research, patient services, advocacy and education. Athletic Booster Club meeting
The Bulldog Athletic Booster Club will meet Thursday, March 31 at 7 p.m. in the Lee Health Conference Room. The meeting is open to the public and all supporters of Bulldog athletes. Planning of spring fundraisers will be discussed. Hamilton Bulldog Baseball and Softball T-Shirts are available and may be purchased at Ken's True Value and Thursday at the baseball and softball games against DeLeon.

Singing at Pottsville Baptist Church
Pottsville Baptist Church will have their Saturday night singing at 6 p.m. on April 2 at the Pottsville Church. There will be a pot luck supper after the singing.

GED in Gatesville
There will be a GED test in Gatesville on April 12 and 13. Anyone who wishes to take the test must complete registration between the hours of 8 a.m. and noon in the registrar's office at Gatesville High School between April 4 and 8. Retired teachers meeting
The Retired Teachers Association will meet Wednesday, April 6 at the First State Bank community room at 2 p.m. The program will be “Travels with Ester” by Ester Jones. Visitors are welcome.

Shive VFD pancake supper
The Shive VFD pancake supper will be held at the Shive Grange Hall Saturday, April 9 from 6-8 p.m. Donations will be accepted for the meal.

Shive Grange pet vaccination
The Shive Grange annual pet vaccination will be held Saturday, April 9 from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. at the Shive VFD. Rabies shots will be given for $6 each by Dr. Randall Miles.

Emmaus Community meeting
The monthly gathering of the Hamilton Emmaus Community will be held Tuesday, April 5 at 6 p.m. in the fellowship hall of the First United Methodist Church. Anyone who has attended an Emmaus Walk or the equivalent is invited to join us for worship, music, fellowship and food. Bring your purple book, name tag, lanyard and a covered dish. Child care will be provided.
American Legion and Auxiliary meeting
The meeting of the American Legion and Auxiliary will be Monday, April 4 at 7 p.m. There will be a covered dish meal before the meeting. The members of Hico American Legion Post will be merging into the Hamilton post and officers of Hamilton Post would like to have all members that are able to attend come and welcome the members from Hico. It is the hops of the members that by working together they will be able to serve the veterans of Hamilton county better.

Maude Shockley Art Show
The Hamilton Bi-annual art show will be Saturday, April 30 in the Fine Arts Building. Admission will be free. Works in oil, acrylic, mixed media, watercolor, pen, pencil or pastels will be judged by Jo Beck who owns and teaches out of her Clifton gallery. The show will also welcome sculpture, photography, quilts and needlepoint for display. These items will not be judged. Many of the art pieces will be available to purchase. Those interested in entering the show should contact Joan Crumrine at 386-8293 or pick up an entry form at the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce.

HISD Goal Setting Meeting
The Hamilton Independent School District will be conducting a meeting to receive community input on 2005-2006 school district goals. The meeting will take place on Monday, April 4, 2005 at 5:30pm in the Junior High School Library. Region 12 Educational Service Center will facilitate the meeting.

Dance at Jonesboro
There will be an April Fool's dance at the Jonesboro Community Center Friday, April 1 from 7-10 p.m. Music will be by The Country People. Bring your favorite dish to share.

Carlton VFD BBQ supper
The Carlton VFD will hold their annual auction and barbecue supper Saturday, April 16 at the Carlton Community Center. Barbecue brisket, pork and chicken with beans, potato salad, cole slaw, dessert and drink will be served at 6 p.m. Cost for adults is $8, children under 5, $3. The auction will begin at 7 with Ray Shipps as Auctioneer. Carlton VFD appreciates the public's support of the department as it works on completion of the septic system and building interior as well as maintenance of the equipment.

Fund raiser garage sale
Fairy Baptist Church will hold a fund raiser garage sale on Friday and Saturday, April 8 and 9 from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. The sale will be located 1 1/2 miles north of Hico down 220 on the corner of CR 243. 4-H Horse and Livestock Club meeting
The Hamilton County 4-H Horse and Livestock Club will meet at Hidden Oaks Ranch Sunday, April 3 at 5 p.m. for a hamburger cook-out by the creek. 4-H Swine Club meeting

The Hamilton County 4-H Swine Club will meet Tuesday, April 15 at 5:30 p.m. in the St. John Lutheran Church Life Center. They will elect officers. Anyone interested in being an officer is encouraged to attend.
Baked Potato Luncheon

Hamilton Co. International Miss Contestants will host a Baked Potato luncheon Tuesday, April 5. All proceeds will go to offset expenses as the girls travel to Dallas to represent Hamilton in the Texas State Pageant. Orders are now being taken for large potatoes with your choice of toppings and iced tea. Orders will be delivered at lunch time on Tuesday. The cost is a $5 donation. Hamilton contestants include: Tonya Wells, Chelsie Surley, Jessica Ford, Breanna Maltby, Brandi Thompson, Maggie Jo Blanton, Bethany Radle, Jessie Musgrove, Jordan Wells, Shawnee Burks, Nola Burks, Logan Welch, Cheyenne Beeman, Madeline Mehaffey, Kyndall Ingram and Morgan Mehaffey. Spring Fling
The annual Hamilton County Extension Education Clubs Spring Fling will be held April 4 at St. John Lutheran Church Family Life Building. Registration will be from 8:30 a.m. until 9 a.m. and the program will end at 3 p.m. Presentations will include “Over the Hill...Not!!”, “Cooking with Chef Frank,” “Lumps & Lumps,” “Pots of Color,” “Spring Fashions,” and “Batlady and Michael.” The famous salad and dessert luncheon will highlight the event along with entertainment and a silent auction. Clean-Up Day
The annual City of Hamilton Clean-Up Day is set for Saturday, April 16. Trucks from Centex Waste will begin picking up trash placed at curbside at 8 a.m. that morning. Residents are asked to have their trash set out prior to 8 a.m. as the trucks will only be by once. The Hamilton Beautification Committee urges residents to take advantage of this opportunity to beautify their property and make Hamilton an even prettier place.
St Mary's Spring Rummage Sale
St. Mary's Episcopal Church will hold its annual spring rummage sale on Saturday, April 2 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the parish house at Main and College. Donations will be appreciated and gratefully accepted. For more information, call 386-8277 or 386-3638.

Relay for Life
Plans are being made for a Relay For Life in Hamilton County set to take place at the Hico High School track on June 3 beginning at 7 p.m. Teams, sponsors and volunteers are needed. Anyone who would like to participate in any way, should attend the team meeting Thursday, March 17 at 6 p.m. at the Hico Fire Hall. Hamilton County Livestock Association
The Livestock Association will be accepting scholarship applications through April 8. Criteria for the scholarship is listed on the applications, which may be picked up at the County Extension office in the courthouse, from ag teachers or at the school counselor's office. Applications should be returned to Shirley Gerald at the Hamilton County Extension Office.
Priddy Pirates 3 on 3 tournament
The Priddy Pirates coaching staff will host a boys and girls 3 on 3 tournament at the Priddy High School gym on May 6 and 7. Proceeds will go the Priddy Pirates athletic program. Cost is $40 For more information, call Stephen Heers at 325-966-3323 or 325-451-0327.


Free pedometers
There are still some free pedometers, courtesy of Hochheim Branch 150, for Walk Across Texas team members who turn in their registration forms to the Texas Cooperative Extension office! Form teams of eight people, register online at http://walkacrosstexas.tamu.edu or pick up your registration packet from Shirley Gerald. There is no fee plus participants may win Fitness Center memberships, massages from Barb Klubnik, and cash from the Extension Education Clubs. The eight week competition starts April 3rd.
